What the heck is that thing?!

Pirey?

Fairet?

That, my friends, is me dressed as a Pirate Fairy. No, not a Fairy Pirate...that's something entirely different. A Pirate Fairy is one of the most feared fairies in all the....uh yeah. The wings are giving me away aren't they.

In all seriousness, while this costume pushed me into behaviors entirely unfamiliar to me, it was really a lot of fun. The kids LOVED it and everyone loved the wings.

Yep, they're made to look like sails. Preston's idea. Brilliant.

Thanks Dee for forwarding these pictures to me. If I get around to asking others for copies of the ones they took I may post more.

In the meantime...YAR! (umm...can someone help me get this glitter off?!!)

A bonfire isn't a bonfire...

...when there's no one to share it with.

This is a wonderfully blurry picture (hey, I didn't have my camera with me...only my phone) of the burn pile I spent several hours watching yesterday. Faire site needed some clean-up and what is the best way to get rid of evidence...er...trash? That's right! Burn it! But back to the blurry picture. I think it looks like lava. What do you think? Maybe if I had gotten closer, it REALLY would have looked like an erupting mountain! I couldn't get any closer though...that sucker was HOT!

Man, it was really goin' there for a while. Of course, I didn't think to take a picture of it until everyone else had moved on to different jobs and I was left watching the fire. By this point, it was almost out. I was wishing I had marshmallows.

Oh, and the giant stump there in the middle? Yeah, it's still in the ground. And boy did that thing stay solid! Apparently we're going to have to try a different removal method.

Who'da Thunk?

I have begun a new adventure in sewing. I just hope I've begun early enough. I refuse to have more 14 hour sewing days...

Here's to hoping that this project won't be quite as difficult. So, what am I working on you ask?

Horse costuming.

No no! Don't adjust your monitor. You read that right. Over the next couple of weeks I'll be constructing a caparison. Call it what you will; caparison, trappings, barding, it's quite the project.

Here's a picture of a caparison...of course it's nothing like what I'll be constructing. I'm going for something WAY more simple. Maybe I'll figure out the scanner on this thing at some point and scan my design. Anyway, this is a form of a caparison.

They can be very elaborate (as shown here) or very simple. I'll be working on a design that's somewhere in the middle.

The funniest part about all of this is that back in the day, when I used to watch THESE guys joust, I never figured I would be one of the girlfriends that constructed some of this stuff!

I mean, after all, I was warned to stay away from "those jouster types". Heh...
